The Associate Media Director must be both strategic and hands-on with activation, tenacious and passionate about delivering outstanding product, while ensuring all deliverables are of the highest quality. He or she will report to and assist the Media Director in leading the media team, including instilling a culture of creativity and innovation. The Associate Media Director will be the primary strategic media lead across a number of brands and will work directly with the marketing strategy and account teams.  This position is client-facing and involves cultivating client relationships.


  • Work with agency stakeholders and media team to ensure that campaign launches, implementation, tactical quality control, and all aspects of campaign management are handled appropriately within the media team
  • Collaborate with the media director to ensure the media department offering is industry-leading, including pioneering new innovations and strategic services
  • Serve as a trusted leader in the media department, including periodically representing the agency for new business or industry events
  • Collaborate to instill a strong culture in the office
  • Assist the Media Director in overseeing the media team, including teaching management skills to junior staff
  • Ensure flawless campaign activation as a core responsibility, including overseeing campaign launches
  • Responsible for managing the team to ensure timely delivery and quality assurance of all media projects and associated tasks
  • Provide feedback and performance evaluation to direct reports
  • Lead the SMART Goals process across the media team, ensuring all media team members are working toward key performance goals
  • Serve as senior day-to-daylead on assigned accounts, and a trusted media expert for both the B2B and B2C marketplace
  • Demonstrate senior-level understanding of all steps in the media activation process, including organizing campaign launches and management
  • Show familiarity with data and measurement, including training and overseeing insight development among the media team
  • Develop media strategies, media mixes, and recommendations that are strategic, accurate, and innovative
  • Oversee the creation of media documents, including QA for assigned accounts: flowcharts, timelines, RFPs, POVs, and media rationale presentations
  • Possess ample knowledge about media research tools (ability to teach others)
  • Enforce and adhere to responsible financial management and billing reconciliation on assigned accounts while assisting the director to ensure the media team follows the billing actualization process
  • Provide oversight to ensure all plans are set up correctly within agency tools, including Advantage and DoubleClick
  • Ensure media department guidelines and processes are adhered to
  • Collaborate with account services team, accounting, marketing strategy, creative services, PM, technology, and AIS, ensuring open lines of communication
  • Continually explore new technologies and advertising formats, including developing presentations to drive innovation
  • Stay abreast of ad operations/tagging to ensure best-in-class activation and measurement
  • Possess expert-level knowledge of DoubleClick and key media management platforms


  • Minimum of 5 years’ media planning experience, preferably across integrated channels
  • Strong digital expertise, including knowledge of ad operations and technology
  • Pharmaceutical and healthcare brand experience a plus
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills – must be able to motivate and coach a team
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills
  • Strong client service orientation and analytical skills
  • Experience working within media and research tools, including DoubleClick DFA, comScore, Advantage, Kantar, Google Analytics, and/or Omniture
  • Self-motivated; excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication, as well as problem-solving and decision-making skills, required
  • Strong math skills and understanding of Microsoft tools required (Excel including pivot tables, PPT, Outlook)
  • Strict attention to detail, accuracy, and deadlines
